San Jose, California (Nov. 12, 2009) – GES Inc., a fast growing semiconductor and solar equipment engineering service provider, today announced the appointment of Dr. Dan Maydan –former President of Applied Materials to its board of director. Dr. Maydan has initially served as the company advisor over a year prior to this appointment.

Dr. Maydan was President of Applied Materials Inc., the world largest semiconductor manufacturing equipment company, from January 1994 to April 2003 and a member of that company's board of directors from June 1992 to October 2005. From March 1990 to January 1994, Dr. Maydan served as Applied Materials' Executive Vice President, with responsibility for all product lines and new product development. His work has been inducted into the Smithsonian Institution in Washington D.C. as part of its collection of breakthrough technologies, which have helped shape society and the modern world. Before joining Applied Materials in September 1980, Dr. Maydan spent thirteen years managing new technology development at Bell Laboratories during which time he pioneered laser recording of data on thin-metal films and made significant advances in photolithography and vapor deposition technology for semiconductor manufacturing. In 1998, Dr. Maydan was elected to the National Academy of Engineering, and 2005, Silicon Valley Engineering Hall of Fame. Over the years, he has also received numerous awards and honors for his contributions to technology and engineering. Dr. Maydan was the recipient of the first ever "Lifetime Achievement Award" from the Semiconductor Equipment and Materials International (SEMI) organization. He serves on the board of directors of Infinera Corporation (Nasdaq: INFN), Electronics for Imaging Inc. (Nasdaq: EFI), and Laser Card Corporation, a privately held company. Dr. Maydan is a member of the Board of Trustees of the Palo Alto Medical Foundation (P.A.M.F.). Dr. Maydan received his B.S. and M.S. degrees in electrical engineering from Technion, the Israel Institute of Technology, and his Doctor of Honoris Causa. in Physics from Edinburgh University in Scotland. He has also been awarded honorary Doctorates from Technion and National Chiao Tung University.

GES Infotek (as the new division will be known), located in Trivandrum, India, brings extensive experience in the Semiconductor and Solar PV manufacturing and equipment automation domains with a base of over 400 man years of experience covering all leading programming languages. In addition to industrial automation, GES Infotek brings experience with computer vision and image processing, embedded systems, robotics, digital consumer and media solutions and human-machine interface (HMI).

Other GES Board members include: Mr. Julien Nguyen – Managing Director of Concept Venture, based in Menlo Park, California. Julien has been a distinguished and accomplished technology entrepreneur. Julien founded or was part of the founding team for four startups: Ezlogin (acquired by 724 Solutions), Novita Communications (acquired by Planetweb), EMotions (acquired by Sigma Designs), Radius (IPO). Julien earned a Master of Science degree from Ecole Polytechnique in France (X77) and a Post Graduate degree from Telecom Paris. Mr. Nguyen holds 21 patents granted in the US. Julien serves on the board of Envision, Grandis, Takumi, and Sigma Designs.

Dr. Henry (Hoang) Nguyen - Managing General Partner of IDG Ventures Vietnam. Prior to joining IDG Ventures, Henry was the Managing Director in Asia for VITC, a U.S. telecommunications company specializing in IP services and technology. During his time at VITC, the company grew from start-up to over $30M in revenue annually. Prior to joining VITC, Henry was an Associate at Goldman Sachs in Equity Research in the Technology and Enterprise Software Group based out of New York. Henry was an undergraduate at Harvard University where he attended as a Harvard National Scholar. He graduated Magna cum Laude in 1995 with a B.A. in Classics. After Harvard, Henry earned his M.D. and M.B.A. from Northwestern University Medical School and the Kellogg School of Management, USA.
